Contextualism Castle Pines Style

Chicago, the city of architecture, so iconic that the city should be renamed...Chicarchitectgo!  On a recent trip and architectural tour along the river, several of the renowned high rise buildings were spectacular representations of conceptual design/contextualism.
Contextualism is when the design form follow the context of the environment, as in building on a curve to represent the curvature of the Chicago river, the result is a beautiful design with green windows that curve out  to form a vertical river design.

Contextualism is sustainable design and ever present in the beautiful community of Castle Pines Village.  The architecture in a custom home in Castle Pines is screened by an architectural design review committee that collaborates with the architect and lot owner to conceptualize a home that coordinates with the lot site, adapting several of the topographical and landscape features.  A few examples are visible on this web site.

Gan Aden, Hebrew for Garden of Eden,at 31 Albion Place is an excellent example of contextualism.  Articulating the natural landscape with interior rooms was the primary goal.  Upon entering the home, the tena nd eleven foot floor to ceiling windows bring the outside into the home's interior.  Hopes high windows and doors, including spectacular pocket doors, allow the appreciation of the Marpa designed landscape from each room.  The lot combines the indigenous flora an fauna which makes Castle Pines Village unique, with a zen quality in placement of koi ponds, a tea house and sculptures.

Another example of contextualism can be seen at 2715 Castle Glen, a home situated along the first fairway of the Castle Pines Golf Club's famed International course.  This home has the advantage of an additional lot within the Glen, to protect the mountain and golf course views and privacy within the Glen community of cluster homes.  The tiered extra lot allowed the landscape to resemble the lustrous and manicured greens of the gold course.
