Hot Art

Summer Art Fairs...the great summer weekend pastime that  stretches the legs and the imagination.  Denver is a mecca for artists these days with art districts that are open regularly mixing live work space with galleries, studios and plenty of street art, but nothing matches the bohemia of a summer en plein art fair.

The annual Art Student's League kicks off the summer series the second weekend of June.  Missed it?  No worries, the Cherry Creek Arts Festival is just around the corner over the 4th of July weekend and it will be a firecracker.   There is the Colorado Black Arts Festival July 13-15 followed by an art fair in Cheesman Park July 28-29 then on to Sloan's Lake on August 11.

In addition to the festivals and fairs in urban Denver, there are plenty in the mountains.  Colorado is a superb setting for artists with the incrdible weather, the sky in Denver changes every 15 minutes...no two clouds nor snowflakes are the same.  Cityscapes, mountain and river scenes, Western composition and people...the beauty, intrigue and individuality of Colorado.

Don't miss these fairs, a variety of local artists are represented but artists flock with their pieces from all over the country.  Most of the fairs mentioned are juried shows and the prices range from the typical "starving artist screamin' deal" to
investment pieces.

A major art piece makes or breaks the first impression of one's home and adds to lasting enjoyment of our homes.

Note To Self....Get the Cherry Creek LIV Sotheby's Mile Hi Modern office readied for the upcoming arts festival in Cherry Creek North the weekend of July 7th.  We are conveniently located at 255 Clayton St.

The Must-Sees of Summer

ShareThis
Ah, summer is here and the Sunday New York Times Arts and Leisure section"s article by Mike Hale marks it with the
Must Sees of Summer... in television, theatre, summer reads and travel.  Castle Rock was listed as a Must See, albeit the TV show, but the stunning residential community of Castle Pines Village should be on the to do list for anyone residing or visitng the Denver area.   CPV is located just twenty minutes south of Denver, at an elevation of 6280 feet above sea level, the place where Denver becomes Colorado again.
This gated community of luxury estate homes, townhomes and patio homes sits on approximately 2800 acres of lush foliage, Ponderosa pines, two Jack Nicklaus signature private 18 hole golf courses and mountain views.  Wildlife is abundant and resort style amenities throw the gauntlet at any of the mountain resorts.

The trick is getting in to see the Must See!  Well, June is bustin out all over with opportunity.  LIV Sotheby's will be hosting an Open House of a stunning array of homes available for purchase on Solstice Sunday, June 24th, 1-4, and the headliner will be the home located at 70 Indigo Way.
Start on Indigo Way.

Known for its curves with stately pines and bordered by two of the signature holes of the famed Castle Pines Golf Club International course, Indigo Way maintains a three decade reputation as the "Street".  The lots are magnificent.
70 Indigo Way sits on a 1.57 acre lot with an 80 foot setback from the street.  It borders the 10th hole, known as the #1 handicap hole of the Golf Club at Castle Pines.  The award winning location, along with the extoradinary architecture and design make this home the Must See of the tour and will be featured by another great journalist in the Sunday edition of the Denver Post in the real estate section.

So if seeing is believing, ink this date!
Sunday, June 24th

Not Your Queen's Castle

ShareThis
Assuming the Queen's invite was lost in snail mail, and you will be around during wedding weekend...take a quick carriage ride to another Castle...Castle Pines Village, where Denver becomes not Windsor but Colorado again.
Castle Pines Village is hosting an Open House tour of fantastic luxury homes on Sunday, May 20 from 1-4 pm.  The Guard Gates...yes just like Buckingham, will have maps for the homes that will be open and there will be several to view in all price ranges.

One luxury home in particular, first time on the market, is an architectural gem.  Designed by famed architect, John Knudsen, this sprawling ranch is located along the 10th fairway of the Castle Pines Golf Club, home to the International Golf tourney.  It sits back from the prestigious Indigo Way, a tree lined driveway winds to the custom, double mahoghany front door.  Perfect for entertaining, the main great room vaults to approximately 21 feet and crowned (no pun here) with a large skylight.  Lock and Slide doors open the outside to the inside creating the illusion that there are no boundaries.  The home is constructed with organic elements of stone and woods, copper and calcite. Two master suites with ensuite master bathrooms, main floor and walk-out level,
an additional bedroom and a fitness room/extra bedroom option.  Decks, fireplaces, waterfalls, grills, top of the line kitchen, extroadinary wine room with tasting area, safes, vault and too many upgrades to mention.  Seeing is believing!

Stop by Sunday afternoon at 70 Indigo Way.
Castle Pines Village is a gated community located just 20 minutes from the Denver Tech Center and less from world class shopping in the Park Meadows Shopping district.  Castle Pines Village is home to two eighteen hole Jack Nicklaus designed private golf clubs.  The community has 24 hour emergency services, 3 swimming pools and recreational facilities, hiking and biking trails,  a design review committee sensitive to the natural beauty of the Village, a demographic of a community that represents all.

Rock Star Status #Mile Hi Modern

ShareThis
Rocketing to the marketplace is an exceptional modern home that compares to none.  This is where Denver becomes WOW and transports the observer to an exclusive property say on the Cote d"Azur or the Italian Riviera, but it truly is located in the coveted Belcaro neighborhood at 919 South Garfield.

This home has it all, from the exclusivity of Nest Architecture and Boa Construction to the best designers this city has to offer.  This modern ranch organically brings natural materials such as steel, stone, glass and wood to brilliance and luxury.

The drama begins at the entry with a direct visual of  the 14 foot stone fireplace that is the focal point of the great room with 14 foot ceilings and clerestory windows.  The La Cantina Bi-Fold Collapsing doors blend the interior and exterior and open to the 900 plus square foot outdoor living room with three large patio areas, an outdoor fireplace, large Viking applianced outdoor kitchen, skylights, 4 outdoor ceiling fans,  Delany & Long outdoor drapery, and plush landscaping with custom water features that include a stone waterfall and Basalt domed water sculpture.  The outdoor living area also walks into the, dining room lounge, third main floor bedroom/sitting room and the main floor master suite.
The master suite is acutally the master retreat with Loro Piana custom draperies, a walled fireplace (there are seven in this home) Phillip Jeffries fabric wall coverings and an ensuite master bath that rivals any luxury spa with its wet room complete with glass 72x36 doors that encloses a steam room with a soaking tub and marble bench seating, two wall -mounted and six ceiling- mounted shower heads and two hand- held wands.  The Ann Sacks designer tiles and Dornbracht fixtures with dual facing sinks complete the elegance and bring the word clean to a whole new level.

The kitchen is flanked by a Butler's kitchen and a wet bar, both complete with dishwashers, wine refrigerator, ice makers, refrigerator drawers, et. al.  All the appliances, in all the kitchens, wear names such as Kitchen-Aid, SubZero, Asko. Viking and Miele.  Imagine sipping your house-made espresso from the wall mounted Miele espresso machine while walking your espresso stained white oak wood floors whilst admiring your art from the museum grade level one walls and cantilevered art shelves enhanced by the Lutron lighting system.

If you don't entertain, you will, in this home with the various conversation areas from the formal dining room crowned by the Murano glass chandelier, or the formal living room off the entry.  Everyone knows the crowd pleaser while entertaining is hanging in the kitchen and you will since it is open to the great room and complemented by the outdoor living space and outdoor kitchen as well as the adjoining butler's pantry.
But, the competing area for seizing your guests is the downstairs grotto wine and tasting room that houses 915 bottles and the guest suite/theatre room with ensuite bath.  The 9 1/2 foot ceilings give so much lift to this seductive area of the house that you hardly know that you descended the floating wood staircase.

Don't miss the chance to own a piece of this va va voom.

Timeless Traditions

ShareThis
Ahh, the nostalgic days of summer, where the memories of summers past flood into our senses bringing smiles of neighborhood parties and cravings of lemonade and barbeques.

Many of us travel miles to the family home and neighborhoods to stroll down memory lane catching a glimpse of childhood past and rebooting that which makes us human.   Many of us stay home in order to create those days for our own children and their children.  If you fall into the latter category you need to be in the community that can make this happen.  Castle Pines Village is your neighborhood and the home at 466 Lorraway Drive is the perfect setting for memory making.

The large brick two story has multi-generational appeal with a timeless floor plan.  This is the home that you can grow into but will never grow out of, it is that timeless.  The home's vaulted entry with marble flooring and  sweeping staircase provides a stunning opening act. This entry is the perfect backrop for all occasions from holidays to weddings..visions of .garland draped around the handrail with pajama clad children descending or a sweet sixteen prom dress presented.  The entry is anchored by a dining room with double french doors and a built-in buffet that is ideal for entertaining whether you are 'popping the champs' or blowing out the birthday candles , this room brings on the timeless element of  surprise.

The large great room is friendly and open to the kitchen and breakfast nook, aptly designed for after school homework, "soup's on" dinners or Sunday night football gatherings.  The multi-generational functionality of this home is also found in the bedrooms with a main floor study that can convert to a main floor bedroom with the contiguous three quarter bathroom.  The second story master bedroom and master bath ensuite, and three additional bedrooms and two additional bathrooms are connected by an open loft with bookcases.

The home's exterior is framed by a half acre lot with towering ponderosa pines, professional landscaping, a large meandering stone patio, open fire pit and stone waterfall, a stargazing patio and two decks.  Egg hunts, croquet competitions, s'mores, hide and go seek, hammock napping...makes you want to kick the can with your children, grandchildren, parents or neighbors.

The home is located in an iconic area of Castle Pines Village that has sponsored and hosted festivities from 4th of July bike and pet parades, summer street block parties with bands and beverages, traditional Halloween trick or treating, potlucks, bookclubs, garden clubs, gin clubs, bridal showers, baby showers, grad parties, office parties and party for no good reason parties.  The basement at 466 Lorraway Drive is finished to restaurant quality with a complete kitchen, full carved wooden wet bar with barstools, theatre room and disco dance floor.  If the walls could talk....black-tie holiday parties, after parties from any of the above festivities, office retreats or simple Saturday movie nights with pizza and popcorn.  The recreation room is so insulated it is just a door off speak easy.

The home at 466 Lorraway Drive is located within Castle Pines Village in the area that has a welcoming return effect on the generations, many a child's child is now being raised in this part of the Village.  Castle Pines Village has fortunate access to the top quality Douglas County School system and easy commutes to some of the top private and parochial schools in the Denver metro area.  Castle Pines Village is a gated community with 24 hour Emergency Services, including a large fire station on Happy Canyon Road, two signature Jack Nicklaus 18 hole private golf courses, hiking trails, biking trails, 4 swimming pools, fitness center, tennis courts, and local shopping center with gourmet food, wine, boutique shopping.

Words do not do justice to the timelessness of the home and neighborhood... you need to see it, feel it, play in it, then you will want to live in it.

A Bonnie Of A House

ShareThis
The newly listed home at 966 Bonnie Brae Boulevard has eye-dropping appeal with its East Coast charm and superior location.  This traditional white brick, shuttered house is framed by a white picket fence and Pennsylvania fieldstone garden wallsl and borders for the professionally landscaped yard.  The back porch/deck is reminiscent of a Nantucket beach property with its wooden slab ceiling and balusters, all in white of course.  The back porch leads to an intimate garden where children or grandchildren can play safely with parental peace of mind.   It also makes the perfect spot for summer beverages and entertaining.

The porch leads back to a William Ohs custom kitchen with top of the line appliances... Sub Zero refrigerator, Viking stove top and ovens, Viking dishwasher and a white farm sink.  The center island is William Ohs custom millwork with extra cabinetry and a marble counter top.  The marble floor and ceramic tile backsplashes bring out the culinary Contessa in everyone...picture sugar plum children on stools baking and decorating cakes and  cookies for every holiday festivity.

The formal dining and living rooms have hardwood floors and solid wooden plantation shutters, the entire home is shuttered by large wooden plantations.  The living room fireplace surround is a custom mosaic of fine bone china, a nod to the sellers' anglicajphillean roots, and a custom detailed mantel with classical details of  dentils and columns.  The dining room chandelier is whimsically  anchored by Rafaelesco angels ...what a conversation starter.

The home's stone steps and wrought iron staircase lead to the second story bedrooms with a large master with two walk-in master closets and ensuite master bath with William Ohs cabinetry and Waterworks fittings.  The other two bedrooms, and a third bonus bedroom/nursery/office are housed on the second story with a delightful bathroom designed with  Lee Joffa wallpaper and original thirties tile and fixtures.

The home has a large main floor laundry room with sink, a Powder room with Lee Joffa designer wallpaper (the new East Coast look with patterns on patterns ), a walk-in pantry and a two car garage with an extra storage room.

A full basement features a large recreation room, cedar closet, non-conforming bedroom possibility, half bath, and additional laundry room.

The location of 966 Bonie Brae Boulevard is wonderful, a quick walk to the Bonnie Brae circular park and the quaint neighborhood Bonnie Brae shopping center complete with the iconic pizzeria, tavern and homemade ice cream shop that is a Denver metro favorite.  Bonnie Brae offers wonderful blocks for walking and is less than a mile from Washington Park.  It is an easy commuter access area as well.  Don't miss this opportunity to own a slice of the American dream.
This yankee doodle dandy will bring out the best in everyone!
